Baby meals with organic vegetables: the foundation of all successful weaning

Before meat meals, before fish meals, before yogurt, there are vegetables. Vegetables are the gateway to weaning, the first real "other than milk" food that baby will discover. And it is also where their relationship with taste is built, month after month, for years to come. It goes without saying that what we offer them now matters.

Vegetables, the true unsung heroes of weaning

Why start with vegetables:

  • Key nutrients: fiber for digestion, vitamins (A, C, K), minerals (potassium, magnesium), and plenty of water.
  • Progressive flavors: we start with mild ones (carrot, sweet potato, zucchini), then move on to more pronounced ones (spinach, broccoli, parsnip, cauliflower).
  • Preparing the palate: the earlier baby tastes a variety of flavors, the more they will accept them later. It is an investment for years to come.

Why introduce a variety of vegetables very early for your baby?

Let's not beat around the bush: a palate that has only known potatoes and carrots will have more trouble accepting parsnips at age 4 than a palate that has already encountered the entire vegetable section of the market. Diversifying early gives baby a chance to become a curious eater.

And it also gives you a little more peace of mind when the major food neophobia phases arrive, generally between 18 months and 3 years (yes, sorry, it is almost inevitable, but it passes).

Our selection of baby meals with vegetables

Good Goût vegetarian and vegan recipes offer a wide range to explore vegetables without repetition:

  • In fruit-vegetable pouches: mild recipes from 4 months, where the vegetable is mixed with fruit for a gradual introduction to taste (first purees, from 4 months for a 3-in-1 pouch (vegetable, starch, oil), pear-beetroot, for example, in our packs).
  • In flexible pouches or bowls: complete recipes from 6 months, mixing vegetables, starches, and legumes for plant-based protein (red lentils).
  • On the vegetable side: carrot, butternut squash, parsnip, cauliflower, zucchini, sweet potato, beetroot, eggplant, tomato. Enough to explore the whole garden without getting bored.
  • A reference to discover: Carrot, sweet potato, and red lentils dal-style. A recipe inspired by Indian cuisine, mild but never bland.

All-vegetable meals or mixed meals with protein?

Both, and that is very good. A few guidelines:

  • Before 6 months: only fruits and vegetables (and milk, of course, which remains the main food).
  • From 6 months: we can alternate meals with animal protein (meat, fish, egg) and vegetarian meals, where legumes (lentils) provide plant-based protein.
  • Every day: vegetables for lunch and dinner, in one form or another.

And yes, some of our recipes are vegan: no milk, no egg, no animal products. Convenient for families who have made this choice, or simply to vary.
