Baby meals with organic meat: our baby range

At 6 months, the adventure of diversification takes a new turn. After fruits and vegetables, it's time for animal proteins. Meat makes its debut in baby's dish, in small quantities at first, then gradually incorporated into more complete recipes. A step to manage without pressure, but one that still deserves choosing the right products.

Why introduce meat from 6 months?

Meat is one of the foods that can contribute to baby's nutritional needs from the start of diversification. It notably provides:

  • Iron: iron needs increase from 6 months. The iron present in meat, in heme form, is better absorbed than the non-heme iron present in plants. (Source: https://www.anses.fr/fr/content/tout-savoir-sur-le-fer )
  • Proteins: meat provides proteins containing essential amino acids.
  • Vitamin B12 and zinc: meat is also a source of these micronutrients.

As for quantity, we start small: 10g per day between 6 and 8 months (two teaspoons), then 20g between 8 and 12 months, and 30g after 12 months. No need to go overboard.

Our selection criteria for baby meat

At Good Goût, we choose our meats as we would choose those we cook at home:

  • Organic: animal welfare-friendly farming, controlled animal feed, no routine antibiotics. (In accordance with current regulations)
  • Identifiable proteins: beef, chicken, pork, lamb, duck. You know exactly what is in the recipe.
  • Steamed cooking (for our bowls): which preserves the nutrients and the natural taste of the foods.
  • Short recipes: meat, vegetables, starches, chosen fat. No starch to thicken, no flavoring to mask.

Our selection of baby meals with meat

Good Goût recipes with meat are available in a flexible pouch or in a bowl, depending on the references. A texture that progresses with age:

  • 6-8 months: smooth purée, first contact with meat in a familiar recipe.
  • 8-12 months: ground texture, we start to feel the ingredients under the spoon.

An emblematic reference of the range: Tomato eggplant beef spaghetti bolognese style. A mini version of a chef's recipe, which proves that babies also deserve taste.

When to serve a dish with meat to baby?

A few simple guidelines:

  • At lunch preferably (the meal where we have the most appetite for proteins).
  • Only one source of animal protein per day: meat OR fish OR egg, never all three.
  • We alternate during the week to vary the intake and tastes.
  • Quantity adapted to age, accompanied by a good portion of vegetables and starches.
